About this template
An editable Excel asbestos register for the person with management or control of a workplace. Record each item of asbestos or material that contains asbestos, whether it was confirmed by a sample result or assumed, its location and condition, how it is marked and who has been given a copy. Inspection dates work themselves out, and the Start Here sheet explains which buildings need a register and when it must be reviewed.
What Is Included In Our Asbestos Register?
- A Start Here sheet: type your business details once and they appear on every sheet and every printed page
- One row for each item: item number, material, building or area, specific location and whether the area can be reached
- Asbestos type, friable or non-friable, condition and item status, with poor and damaged items highlighted
- Date identified, how it was identified (sample result, assumed, or a competent person), who identified it and the laboratory report number
- Label or sign status, so items that are not yet marked stand out
- Review records: last inspected, reason for review, re-inspection interval and an automatic next inspection date
- A record of who has been given a copy of the register
- Overdue inspections in red and inspections due in the next 30 days in yellow; removed items greyed out
- A plain-English summary of the Queensland asbestos register rules, including which buildings need a register and when it must be reviewed
Legislation and Codes of Practice Referenced
- Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Qld): ss 421 to 428 (identifying asbestos, the asbestos register, review, access and transfer), ss 429 and 430 (asbestos management plan), ss 447 to 450 (demolition and refurbishment)
- How to manage and control asbestos in the workplace Code of Practice 2021

Is it compliant with Queensland law?
It's written around Queensland's Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and Regulation 2011. Tailor it to your site, consult your workers and review it whenever conditions change; no template can guarantee compliance on its own.
What if it isn't right for my job?
If it doesn't match its description or has a fault, we'll fix it, and if we can't, we'll refund you (or give you store credit if you'd prefer). Check the sample pages first, as we don't refund a change of mind.
