About this template

Suits security door and screen installers and building trades who fit steel and aluminium security doors, screen doors and window screens to houses and small commercial buildings. It follows the work from planning and service checks, through carrying, drilling, fixing, hanging and welding, to ladders, hardware, finishing and clean-up. Door fix-out and fire door installation are covered by separate SWMS.

Installing security doors and screens is construction work, and a SWMS is legally required when it is high risk construction work, such as work with a risk of a person falling more than 2 metres or work that is likely to disturb asbestos (WHS Regulation sections 291 and 299); otherwise this works as a written safe work procedure and task risk assessment. You can also tick the contaminated or flammable atmosphere item (WHS Regulation s 291(l)) if dust or fumes from drilling or grinding make the area a contaminated atmosphere.
