About this template
Suits vehicle, industrial and furniture spray painters, panel shops and coating contractors who spray two-pack paints that contain isocyanates. It covers product information, health monitoring and respirator readiness, booth ventilation, flammability, mixing, spraying, curing and clean-up.
Spray painting is not high risk construction work by itself, so no high risk construction work items are pre-ticked. A SWMS is required by law only for high risk construction work (WHS Regulation s 299); tick the items that apply if the spraying is done as part of construction work. Otherwise it works as a written safe work procedure and risk assessment.

What Is Covered In Our Isocyanate Two-Pack Spray Painting SWMS?
The job steps run in the order the work is done, from pre-start checks to finishing up. The hazards and controls include:

- Fire and explosion from solvents and paint mist
- Static discharge during mixing and pouring
- Skin and eye contact with hardener
- Health monitoring for isocyanate workers
- Air monitoring and exposure checks
- Fumes while paint flashes off and cures
- Sanding partly cured polyurethane paint
- Solvent-soaked rags and waste
- Contaminated clothing carried out of the booth
High Risk Construction Work
No high risk construction work items (WHS Regulation 2011 (Qld) s 291) are pre-ticked, because this work is not high risk construction work by itself. Tick the items that apply to your job, such as a fall risk of more than 2 metres or work where powered mobile plant is moving.
