About this template

For cash-in-transit operators, security firms and their crews. It covers collecting and delivering cash, including armed robbery risk, manual handling of cash bags, vehicle security and public interaction. General driving is covered by the Driving Vehicles SWMS.

Cash in transit work is not high risk construction work by itself. A SWMS is legally required only for high risk construction work (WHS Regulation s 299); otherwise this document works as a written safe work procedure or task risk assessment. Security licensing and weapons rules sit outside this template: check the current Queensland requirements. If the work is part of high risk construction work, tick the reg 291 items that apply; none is pre-ticked.

What Is Covered In Our Cash in Transit Armoured Vehicle Operations SWMS?

After the standard pre-start checks, the job steps run from “Plan the run and brief the crew” to “Return to the depot, hand over and end the shift”. The hazards and controls include:

  • Predictable routes and times
  • Attack on arrival and on foot at client sites

High Risk Construction Work

None of the high risk construction work items (WHS Regulation 2011 (Qld) s 291) are pre-ticked, because this job is not high risk construction work by itself. Tick any that apply on your site.

Licences, Training and Competency

  • Security licences and any firearm or weapons authority required under Queensland law for each crew member and the firm; the Cash in Transit Code of Practice 2011 lists the Security Providers Act 1993 and the Weapons Act 1990 (check the current class and conditions)
