About this template
Suits concreters and slab finishing crews who use walk-behind and ride-on power trowels to float and finish slabs. It covers planning the finish, slab edges and access, checking machines, fuelling, hand finishing and wet concrete burns, operating both trowel types, fumes, night work, heat and noise, and clean-up. Concreting in general is covered by a separate SWMS.
Item 14 (movement of powered mobile plant, WHS Regulation s 291(o)) is ticked because the SWMS covers ride-on power trowels, which are operator-controlled, self-propelled plant, and because concrete trucks and pumps usually move near a pour. A hand-guided walk-behind trowel is not self-propelled in that sense, so if the job uses only walk-behind trowels and no other powered mobile plant moves in the area, untick item 14. Tick the other items the job involves, such as a fall of more than 2 metres from a slab edge, a road or traffic corridor in use, energised electrical installations, or a contaminated atmosphere (item 11) if grinding or cutting the hardened slab creates silica dust.
